Food Quality & Safety magazine is pleased to announce the addition of two Co-Industry Editors: Purnendu C. Vasavada, PhD, and Richard Stier.
These two longstanding food safety advocates will be an asset in supporting the publication’s mission of being the food and beverage industries’ go-to resource for expert-contributed content.
Dr. Vasavada is a Professor Emeritus of Food Science, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and the principal and managing member of PCV & Associates, LLC, where he provides assistance to the food industry in planning, development, and management of special projects involving food safety and microbiology, quality assurance, and other contemporary topics of interest to the industry and consumers. Dr. Vasavda previously served as the coordinator of the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance. Recognized internationally, he is the author/co-author of over 100 publications including peer-reviewed papers, technical abstracts, and books.
Stier is a consulting food scientist with international experience in food safety, food plant sanitation, quality systems, process optimization, GMP compliance, and food microbiology. He has worked with a wide range of processing systems and products, including canning, freezing, dehydration, deep-fat frying, aseptic systems, and meat processing. Stier has been instrumental in helping processors develop systems needed to compete in today’s market. In addition to being a food safety, GMP, and quality systems auditor, he is also certified as a seafood HACCP instructor from AFDO and International HACCP Alliance, and is an instructor for the PCQI.
Combining industry expertise with editorial expertise, Dr. Vasavada and Stier will work with current Professional Editor, Marian Zboraj, by using their diverse food perspectives to further ensure that Food Quality & Safety content is well-rounded and continues to meet the needs of its professional audience.
