Food Quality & Safety magazine is pleased to announce FONA International as the winner of the 15th annual Food Quality & Safety Award. This prestigious honor recognizes the dedication and achievement of an organization that has made significant improvements in its safety and quality assurance department or program.
Founded in 1987, FONA International creates and produces flavors for various food and nutritional companies worldwide. The organization offers flavor solutions for the confection, grain, beverage, performance nutrition, over-the-counter, and emerging markets from its 33-acre campus in Geneva, Ill.
FONA was chosen as this year’s Award winner because the senior management and the employees demonstrated a strong food safety and quality culture. For example, the company’s comprehensive training includes HACCP, SQF, and “FSMA Fridays.” It has achieved and maintained SQF Level 3 certification since 2009 and was even named SQFI Manufacturer of the Year in 2012. In addition, this mid-sized privately owned company has made significant investments in new instrumentation for quality operations and R&D, underscoring its dedication to continuously improving safety and quality objectives.
