Kraft Heinz issued a voluntary recall of nearly 5,760 cases of its Capri Sun Wild Cherry Flavored Juice Drink Blend beverages on August 12, 2022. The recall came after diluted cleaning solution, which is used on food processing equipment, was accidentally introduced into a production line at one of the company’s factories.
“The company is actively working with retail partners and distributors to remove potentially impacted product from circulation,” the company said in a prepared statement.
The recall impacts only Capri Sun Wild Cherry Flavored Juice Drink Blend beverages made and sold in the United States. Kraft Heinz first became aware of the issue when customers started complaining about the taste of the affected product and an internal investigation was launched.
The company revealed that the “Best When Used By” date on the potentially affected products is June 25, 2023. While the company would not disclose how many total pouches were included in the recall, company data show that each case contains four cartons that have 10 pouches each, so it’s believed that approximately 230,000 individual pouches could be affected.
