Following this, on Feb. 15, 2017 the Food Marketing Institute and Grocery Manufacturers Association announced similar voluntary guidelines implementing a “Use-By” date and “Best if Used By” date.
These initiatives cover a wide range of sectors—from corporate operations to government agencies to consumers’ refrigerators—all with the aim of reducing food waste to protect the environment for more food usage in the years to come.
